NORTHERN ROAD AXIS OF CRETE (BOAK)

Our company submitted a binding offer for the BOAK project (Northern Road Axis of Crete) of the Ministry of Infrastructure & Transport.

The Chania-Heraklion section of BOAK is 157.5 km long and is currently the largest active concession tender.

A very important aspect of the project is that the construction of 34 km tunnels is foreseen for both traffic streams.

The technical characteristics of the Chania – Heraklion section are as follows:

• Motorway length: 157.5 km.
• 2 traffic lanes per direction with emergency lane (ELA).
• 26 tunnels.
• 10.80 km of new bridges, 23 of which exceed 100 meters in length.
• 20 new grade interchanges and upgrading of the existing 18 grade interchanges in the bypass roads of Chania, Rethymno, Heraklion.

The announcement of the provisional contractor is anticipated.
